Overview
Brand Managers own a specific brand's strategy and P&L within larger companies — managing positioning, innovation pipeline, advertising and promotion, distribution, and profitability. Distinct from generic marketing managers, brand managers are the 'mini-CEO' of one brand. The Indian Brand Management career path was historically dominated by FMCG majors (Hindustan Unilever, ITC, Nestle, P&G, Mondelez, Marico, Dabur), with iconic training programmes producing brand-management talent that goes on to senior corporate roles. The D2C boom has expanded the talent pool to brands like Mamaearth, boAt, Sugar Cosmetics, Wakefit, Beardo, Boat. Top FMCG brand managers typically reach Marketing Director / VP by 35-40.
