All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Bathinda is an autonomous Institute of National Importance under the AIIMS Act, 1956, established under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana. Its first MBBS batch was admitted in 2019, initially housed at Baba Farid University of Health Sciences while its own campus was under construction, before shifting to its permanent 179-acre campus in October 2020.
AIIMS Bathinda offers MBBS with 100 seats a year, B.Sc (Hons.) Nursing through its Institute of Nursing Education and Research since 2022, and B.Sc MRIT in allied health. MD, MS, and MDS postgraduate programmes began in 2022, with DM and MCh super-specialty courses introduced in July 2023 and M.Sc (Hons.) Nursing starting in 2025. The institute also runs a full-time residential PhD programme.
Entry to the MBBS programme runs through NEET-UG scores, with 100 percent All India Quota seats allotted via MCC's centralised counselling process, the standard AIIMS admission route.
AIIMS Bathinda does not currently hold a NAAC grade, consistent with its status as an Institute of National Importance outside NAAC's scope. It does not appear in the official NIRF Medical 2025 ranked list or participants list.
Programs at AIIMS Bathinda are approved by UGC — so your degree is recognised by employers, PSUs, and higher-education institutions across India and abroad.
With 200 students and 50 faculty members (~4:1 ratio), the campus offers close mentorship alongside broad peer-learning and student-activity opportunities.
Being located in Bathinda, Punjab gives students access to internships, industry guest lectures, and a well-connected transport network — an advantage for placements and exposure.
No officially documented notable-alumni list exists on the institute's site, consistent with its first MBBS batch only graduating around 2024-25.
