All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Nagpur is an Institute of National Importance established under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana. Academic and clinical operations began in 2018 from the Government Medical College, Nagpur campus, before shifting to its own permanent campus at MIHAN in September 2019, and it was formally dedicated to the nation by the Prime Minister on 11 December 2022.
AIIMS Nagpur offers MBBS with 125 seats a year, MD and MS postgraduate programmes, DM and MCh super-specialty courses, B.Sc and M.Sc Nursing, B.Sc and M.Sc Allied and Healthcare Sciences, PhD programmes in biomedical disciplines, and Post-Doctoral Certificate Courses.
Entry to the MBBS programme runs through NEET-UG scores, allocated via MCC's centralised counselling process under the All India Quota, the standard AIIMS admission route.
AIIMS Nagpur does not currently hold a NAAC grade, consistent with its status as an Institute of National Importance outside NAAC's scope. It participated in NIRF Medical 2025 but was not placed in the published top-40 band.
The institute held its first convocation in March 2025, so it does not yet have a documented notable-alumni cohort. No officially documented notable-alumni list exists on the institute's site.
