AIIMS Raipur

All India Institute of Medical Sciences Raipur (AIIMS Raipur) is an autonomous central government medical institution established in September 2012 under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY) Phase 1. It is Chhattisgarh's only AIIMS, and one of the six original new AIIMS established in Phase 1 of PMSSY (along with AIIMS Bhubaneswar, Patna, Jodhpur, Bhopal, and Rishikesh). AIIMS Raipur ranked #31 in NIRF 2025 (Medical category) with a score of 58.44, improving from #38 in 2024 and #39 in 2023.

AIIMS Raipur operates a 930-bed teaching hospital (43 departments; 960 beds sanctioned under PMSSY) with services including transplant units (renal, liver, bone marrow, stem cell), a 24-hour trauma centre, a cath lab, and a blood bank. The academic campus is at Tatibandh, G.E. Road, Raipur. Student residential facilities are at the Kabir Nagar campus approximately 1 km away.

Courses and Fees

MBBS, 4.5 Years

125 NMC-approved seats. Duration: 4.5 years (9 semesters) followed by a mandatory 1-year compulsory rotating medical internship (CRMI). No management quota, no NRI quota, no capitation fee.

B.Sc (Hons) Nursing, 4 Years

75 seats. Duration: 4 years (8 semesters). Admission via the AIIMS Nursing Entrance Exam. Total fee for the 4-year course: approximately Rs 3,165 (academic component). Year 1 fee: approximately Rs 1,685. Hostel rent at Kabir Nagar campus is nominal (approximately Rs 480/month); mess charges are approximately Rs 700/month.

MD/MS (INI-CET), 3 Years

153 total seats across 24 clinical and preclinical specialties. Major clinical departments include General Medicine, General Surgery, Anaesthesiology, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Orthopaedics, Radiodiagnosis, Psychiatry, Dermatology, Ophthalmology, and Emergency Medicine. Admission via INI-CET, counselling conducted by AIIMS Delhi.

DM/MCh and MDS

41 super-specialty seats (DM/MCh) across 19 specialties via INI-CET. 5 MDS (dental) seats. Post-Doctoral Certificate Courses (PDCC): 37 seats across 17 programmes in disciplines such as Cardiac Anaesthesia, Neonatology, and Interventional Radiology. PhD: 20 seats across 10 departments. MPH: 10 seats (6 regular, 4 government-sponsored).

B.Sc Nursing

Admission via centrally-conducted AIIMS Nursing Entrance Exam. Eligibility: Class XII with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology with minimum 45% (40% for SC/ST). Application via aiimsexams.ac.in.

Fees

MBBS total academic fee for the full 4.5-year course is approximately Rs 6,000 to Rs 6,790. Hostel accommodation at Kabir Nagar campus is available; mess charges are approximately Rs 3,300 to Rs 4,000 per month. B.Sc Nursing 4-year total fee is approximately Rs 3,165. MD/MS annual fee is approximately Rs 1,200 to Rs 1,500.

Scholarships

AIIMS Raipur's near-zero fee structure (total MBBS academic fee approximately Rs 6,000 to Rs 6,790 over 4.5 years) makes most scholarship schemes practically redundant for fee purposes. Students may apply via the National Scholarship Portal at scholarships.gov.in for:

Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship (RGNF) for ST students pursuing PhD or research. National Fellowship and Scholarship for Higher Education of ST Students (Ministry of Tribal Affairs). Post-Matric Scholarship for SC and ST students under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. PM-YASASVI for OBC and EWS students. State government scholarships from Chhattisgarh and other home states.

Campus

AIIMS Raipur's 103.63-acre campus is at G.E. Road, Tatibandh, Raipur, Chhattisgarh 492099. The academic block, hospital, and administrative buildings are on the main campus. Student hostels are at the Kabir Nagar residential campus approximately 1 km away, connected by a shuttle bus service.

Hospital: 930 beds operational across 43 clinical departments. Services include a 24-hour trauma centre (50 beds), 24-hour emergency department, cardiac catheterization, renal and liver transplant units, bone marrow transplantation, stem cell therapy, and a 24-hour blood bank. Sanctioned capacity under PMSSY is 960 beds.

Hostels: Separate fully-furnished hostels for boys and girls at Kabir Nagar campus with 24x7 security, mess facility, and free accommodation for MBBS students. A shuttle bus connects to the main campus. Nursing students' hostel is also at the residential complex.

Academic facilities: Smart lecture halls, simulation centre, 24-hour library, computer labs. Annual academic outpatient consultations have crossed 10 lakh cumulatively.
