BITS Hyderabad is the Hyderabad campus of Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani (BITS Pilani), a Deemed University of Eminence established under Section 3 of the UGC Act. The Hyderabad campus was established in 2008 and is the youngest of three BITS campuses (along with Pilani and Goa). BITS Pilani (the institution covering all campuses) ranked #11 in NIRF 2025 Engineering, #7 in NIRF 2025 University, #16 in NIRF 2025 Overall, and #2 in NIRF 2025 Innovation. The institution holds NAAC A++ accreditation with a CGPA of 3.68 (Cycle 4, awarded November 2024), the highest NAAC grade.
BITS Hyderabad's 200-acre campus at Jawahar Nagar, Kapra Mandal, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Hyderabad, Telangana is fully residential: all B.E. and M.Sc. students are required to reside on campus. Admission is through BITSAT (BITS Admission Test), not JEE. BITS has no reservations for SC/ST/OBC/EWS under government norms, as it is a private Deemed University. Female students at the Hyderabad campus are eligible for an institutional tuition fee concession.

Admission to the M.Sc. programme is via BITSAT. The B.E. branch is allocated after Year 1 based on academic CGPA competition within the campus.
Five M.Sc. disciplines available at Hyderabad campus:
Approximate 5-year tuition: Rs 27,50,000 (10 semesters at Rs 2.75L each for 2025-26, male students). Female fee concession applies. Hostel and mess charges are additional.
BITS Hyderabad also offers M.E. (2-year postgraduate engineering) and Ph.D. programmes in multiple departments. Seat counts and admission details for postgraduate programmes: refer to bits-pilani.ac.in/hyderabad for current cycle information.
BITS admission is entirely merit-based on BITSAT scores. Hyderabad campus cutoffs are typically slightly lower than BITS Goa for the same programme, and both are lower than BITS Pilani (main campus). The following approximate closing scores are based on BITSAT 2025 data from post-counselling analysis (out of 390 maximum):

Note: Official final closing scores are not publicly released by BITS; the above are indicative from post-counselling analysis. Hyderabad cutoffs have been converging toward Goa levels as the campus has matured.
BITS does not follow government reservation policy (no OBC-NCL/SC/ST/EWS categories).
B.E. tuition for 4 years is Rs 22,00,000 (Rs 5,50,000 per year, Rs 2,75,000 per semester) for 2025-26 for male students. Female students receive an institutional tuition fee concession at the Hyderabad campus (approximately 30%), reducing effective annual tuition to approximately Rs 3.85L/yr. With hostel and mess, the total 4-year cost of attendance is approximately Rs 26-28L for male students (lower for female students).
M.Sc. (Hons.) 5-year dual degree tuition total is approximately Rs 27,50,000 for 2025-26 (male students).
A one-time admission fee of Rs 60,500 is charged, along with a refundable caution deposit of Rs 3,000.
BITS does not follow government reservation or scholarship policy (private Deemed University). The following apply at BITS Hyderabad:
Female Tuition Fee Concession: Female students at BITS Hyderabad receive an institutional tuition fee waiver (approximately 30% reduction), making BITS Hyderabad more financially accessible for women pursuing engineering. This is an institutional policy, not a government mandate.
Merit Scholarship: Top students in each batch (typically CGPA of 8.5 and above) are eligible for a merit scholarship covering partial fee waiver. Exact quantum and eligibility criteria are published annually by BITS.
Fee Concession for SC/ST: Despite not following reservation, BITS provides a fee concession scheme for economically weaker SC/ST students based on family income.
External scholarships: Reliance Foundation Scholarship, Foundation for Excellence (FFE), and similar private scholarships are accessible to eligible BITS students. Applications via the respective scholarship websites. Government post-matric scholarships may apply to eligible students, though applicability to private Deemed Universities should be verified.
BITS Hyderabad's 200-acre campus at Jawahar Nagar, Kapra Mandal, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Hyderabad, Telangana 500078 is fully residential. All B.E. and M.Sc. students live on campus throughout the programme. The campus is approximately 30 km from Hyderabad city centre and is connected via the Outer Ring Road (ORR). Proximity to Hyderabad's HITEC City and Cyberabad tech corridor facilitates industry engagement and recruiting by local and global technology companies.
Hostels: Separate fully-residential hostel blocks for boys and girls. Dining halls serve the campus population. First-year students are typically in shared rooms; single-occupancy rooms are available after first year based on seniority and CGPA.
Other facilities: Sports complex, gymnasium, courts (basketball, volleyball, tennis, badminton), auditorium, multiple cafeterias, 24-hour library, high-speed campus-wide Wi-Fi, and a medical centre.
Practice School: BITS Hyderabad students participate in the Practice School programme, where students undertake semester-long internships at companies in India and abroad, earning academic credit. This distinguishes BITS from most other engineering institutions and is a major factor in strong industry relationships and placement outcomes.
Every undergraduate seat at BITS Hyderabad is filled purely on BITSAT score, with no JoSAA-style category reservation and no Telangana domicile quota. Students choose their branch and campus through a single online BITSAT counselling round, which keeps the admission process simple and the peer group merit-driven.
The 2024 placement season recorded an average package of about 20.78 LPA, a median of 18 LPA and a highest domestic offer crossing 1 crore, with 297 companies visiting and 879 students placed across First Degree and Higher Degree programmes. Top recruiters include Google, Microsoft, Adobe, Oracle, Dell, Deloitte, JP Morgan, PhonePe and Salesforce.
Students can pair a B.E. with an integrated M.Sc. in five science streams under a dual-degree scheme, and every first-degree student goes through Practice School I (summer) and Practice School II (full semester) industry stints, which BITS treats as a credited part of the curriculum rather than an optional internship.
The 275-acre campus at Shameerpet is fully residential, with separate boys' and girls' bhawans, central academic blocks, a 1.6 lakh-volume library, sports grounds and the Centre of Excellence in MEMS, Microfluidics and Nanoelectronics. Hyderabad's HITEC City and Gachibowli IT corridor are roughly an hour away, which helps with off-campus recruiter visits and internships.
The BITS Pilani group is ranked #2 in NIRF 2025 Pharmacy with a score of 82.28, behind only Jamia Hamdard. BITS Hyderabad runs B.Pharm and the integrated M.Pharm tracks alongside the engineering and sciences flagships, and the pharmacy programmes feed into a recruiter base that pulls into BITS-trained pharmaceutical R&D, regulatory affairs and clinical-trial roles across Hyderabad pharmaceutical cluster.
BITS Hyderabad sits about 35 km from the HITEC City and Gachibowli R&D corridor that houses Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Apple and Salesforce India captives. The proximity feeds steady recruiter footfall and meaningful Practice School internship pipelines into the Hyderabad tech ecosystem, which is harder to access from the BITS Pilani and BITS Goa campuses given their geographies.
