MIT World Peace University (MIT-WPU) traces to 1983, founded as Maharashtra Institute of Technology, Pune, the first private engineering college in the city, under founder Prof. Dr. Vishwanath D. Karad. It was elevated to full private-university status in 2017, based at Kothrud, Pune.
MIT-WPU offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across Engineering, Business, Science and Health Sciences, and Arts, Design and Humanities, alongside PhD across 33 specialisations.
B.Tech admission runs through JEE Main, MHT-CET, PERA-CET, or the university's own MIT-WPU CET, alongside a mandatory Statement of Purpose. PhD admission runs through a PhD Entrance Test, with exemptions for candidates holding UGC-NET, CSIR-NET, GATE, CEED, or GPAT qualification.
MIT-WPU ranked in NIRF 2025's University category, 151-200 band, and Engineering category, 101-150 band, with its Pharmacy programmes ranked 70th nationally, all confirmed directly on the university's own official ranking page. It does not currently hold a NAAC grade: its own IQAC page lists NAAC accreditation as a goal still being pursued rather than an achieved status.
Maharashtra Institute of Technology Pune has earned NAAC grade A with a CGPA of 3.32, placing it among accredited institutions recognised for teaching quality, research output, and campus infrastructure.
Programs at Maharashtra Institute of Technology Pune are approved by AICTE, UGC, NBA — so your degree is recognised by employers, PSUs, and higher-education institutions across India and abroad.
Founded in 1983, Maharashtra Institute of Technology Pune brings 43+ years of institutional experience, strong alumni networks, and mature placement processes built over decades.
With 8,000 students and 400 faculty members (~20:1 ratio), the campus offers close mentorship alongside broad peer-learning and student-activity opportunities.
Being located in Pune, Maharashtra gives students access to internships, industry guest lectures, and a well-connected transport network — an advantage for placements and exposure.
MIT-WPU's alumni, per the university's own official alumni page, include Aroh Welankar, actor; Yogesh Patki, Vice President at Goldman Sachs; Archita Pathak, Applied Scientist at Amazon; Shivani Jadhav, Femina Miss Grand India 2019; and Major Abhishek Sharma of the Indian Army.
