Overview
Wedding Planners design and execute Indian weddings — from intimate ceremonies (₹5-15 lakh) to destination weddings and ultra-luxe celebrations (₹50 lakh - 5 crore+). India's wedding industry is estimated at ₹4 lakh crore annually, the second-largest globally. Top wedding planners (Vandana Mohan, Lemos & Olivia, The Wedding Filmer, WedMeGood, FNP Weddings, Indian Wedding Planner) command 10-15% of total wedding budget as fees, building high-margin businesses. The destination wedding segment (Udaipur, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Goa, Kerala) is particularly lucrative.
Day-to-day responsibilities
Meet engaged couples and families for initial briefing; design wedding concept (theme, colour palette, mood boards); plan venue, catering, decor, photography, videography, entertainment, transportation; coordinate vendor relationships (decorators, florists, caterers, makeup artists, photographers, choreographers); manage budgets across ₹10 lakh to ₹5 crore range; handle Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Christian, Jain, inter-faith wedding ceremonies; execute multi-day events (sangeet, mehendi, haldi, baraat, reception); manage destination weddings logistics; troubleshoot real-time issues on event day.
