IIT Jodhpur

Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur (IIT Jodhpur or IITJ) is a central government Institute of National Importance, established in 2008 and located at Karwar, Jodhpur, Rajasthan. IIT Jodhpur's permanent 852-acre campus on Nagaur Road is one of the largest IIT campuses by area and is designed as a net-zero energy, water, and waste sustainability campus with a GRIHA 4/5-star rating. IIT Jodhpur ranked #27 in NIRF 2025 Engineering (score: 61.31), #66 in NIRF 2025 Overall (score: 53.17), and #98 in NIRF 2025 Management (score: 45.02). The School of Management and Entrepreneurship (SME) is the youngest B-school to debut in the NIRF Top 100 Management category.

IIT Jodhpur is distinctive for its multidisciplinary academic structure, combining traditional departments with Schools (including the School of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science and the School of Management and Entrepreneurship) and Centres for Technologies that drive cross-disciplinary research. B.Tech Programmes, 4 Years

Admission via JEE Advanced through JoSAA (institute code 108). IIT Jodhpur offers eight B.Tech branches:

1. Computer Science and Engineering (CSE): 62 seats (gender-neutral)
2. Electrical Engineering: 62 seats
3. Mechanical Engineering: 62 seats
4. Chemical Engineering: 42 seats
5. Civil and Infrastructure Engineering: 42 seats
6. Bioengineering: 40 seats

Total gender-neutral B.Tech seats: approximately 434 to 488, depending on which category of seats is counted. Female-only supernumerary seats (approximately 90) are available in addition. JoSAA institute code: 108.

IIT Jodhpur's B.Tech programme uses a multidisciplinary first-year curriculum before students specialise. Bioengineering, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, and Civil and Infrastructure Engineering reflect the institute's focus on interdisciplinary and societal-impact domains.

Category-wise reservation within the gender-neutral pool follows standard IIT norms: OBC-NCL 27%, SC 15%, ST 7.5%, EWS 10%, Open 40.5%.

MBA Programme, 2 Years (School of Management and Entrepreneurship)

IIT Jodhpur's School of Management and Entrepreneurship (SME) offers a 2-year MBA (Management) and MBA-Technology dual-track programme. In the second year, students choose between a management specialisation or a management-technology specialisation.

Total intake: 80 Indian students + 10 international students per batch. The programme was the youngest B-school to debut in NIRF's Top 100 Management rankings (NIRF 2025, rank #98).

MBA Fee Structure (tuition only):

Additional hostel and mess charges apply. SC/ST/PwD students receive full tuition waiver on the MBA programme as well.

Admission: CAT score (mandatory) plus Personal Interview, work experience consideration, and gender diversity weightage. Competitive CAT percentile is approximately 80 or above.

M.Tech Programmes, 2 Years

IIT Jodhpur offers M.Tech programmes via GATE admission through COAP across all departments. Specialisations include CSE, AI, EE, Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, Bioengineering, and Materials Engineering. GATE-qualified students receive Rs 12,400 per month stipend from the Ministry of Education.

Other Programmes

PhD (all departments, including HSS and Management), M.Sc, BS-MS dual degree.

MBA Admissions

MBA admissions are through CAT score plus Personal Interview. Shortlisting is done based on CAT score, work experience, academic record, and gender diversity. The competitive CAT percentile is approximately 80 or above.

Fees

B.Tech tuition is Rs 1,00,000 per semester (Rs 2,00,000 per year) for general-category students with family income above Rs 5 lakh. Total cost of attendance including semester fees, hostel, and mess is approximately Rs 11.7 to 13 lakh over 4 years. SC/ST/PwD students receive full tuition waiver; families with income below Rs 1 lakh receive full remission; Rs 1 to 5 lakh families receive tuition at a reduced rate of approximately Rs 33,000 per semester. MBA tuition is Rs 2,25,000 per semester (Rs 9 lakh total for 2 years). Full B.Tech fee structure is at iitj.ac.in.

Scholarships

Merit-cum-Means (MCM) Scholarship: For eligible B.Tech students on merit-cum-means basis. Standard IIT MCM terms: family income below Rs 4.5 lakh per year, minimum required CPI, up to 25% of batch eligible. Benefit: tuition fee waiver plus Rs 1,000 per month pocket money for 10 months per year. IIT Jodhpur's specific MCM amount is per the MHRD-standard schedule; students apply through the Office of Students.

SC/ST/PwD Tuition Fee Waiver: Unconditional 100% tuition fee waiver for all SC/ST and PwD students in B.Tech and MBA programmes.

Income-based Tuition Remission (MoE):

• Family income below Rs 1 lakh per year: full tuition remission
• Family income Rs 1 to 5 lakh per year: approximately Rs 33,000 per semester tuition (approx. one-third of standard rate)

IIT Jodhpur's 852-acre permanent campus is located at NH 62, Nagaur Road, Karwar, Jodhpur 342030, Rajasthan. The campus is designed as a sustainability campus targeting net-zero energy, water, and waste, and holds a GRIHA 4/5-star rating. A 182-acre Technology Park on campus is designated for institute-industry interaction and startup incubation.

Hostels: Seventeen residential hostels: 12 for boys and 5 for girls (as of 2025). Rooms are air-cooled and furnished. All rooms have LAN and Wi-Fi connectivity. Separate dining facilities with vegetarian, non-vegetarian, and special diet options. A late-night canteen and food court are available.

Sports facilities: Synthetic athletics track, cricket nets (3 pitches), football ground, hockey ground, tennis courts, basketball courts, gymnasium (separate for men and women), and indoor game rooms.

Medical: 24-hour medical centre on campus with ambulance service and a direct hotline to AIIMS Jodhpur for emergency care.

Banking: SBI, Canara Bank, and HDFC Bank branches with ATMs are located on campus.

School of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (AIDE): One of the first dedicated AI and Data Science schools at an IIT. Houses faculty, labs, and collaborative research centres for AI, machine learning, data science, and high-performance computing.
