M.S. Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences was founded in December 2013 under the Karnataka University Act, with approval from the Government of Karnataka. It was formed by bringing together several established Ramaiah Group institutions, including the M.S. Ramaiah College of Pharmacy (1992), M.S. Ramaiah Dental College (1991), M.S. Ramaiah College of Hotel Management (1993) and the M.S. Ramaiah School of Advanced Studies (1999).
The university is sponsored by the Gokula Education Foundation. It now operates 14 faculties and schools offering more than 140 undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral and diploma programmes, spread across the Gnanagangothri Campus on New BEL Road, the Technology Campus in Peenya, and a newer Electronic City campus that houses the Ramaiah University College of Engineering.
MSRUAS positions itself around an applied-sciences and industry-linked model of education, with faculties covering Engineering and Technology, Management and Commerce, Pharmacy, Art and Design, Natural Sciences, Law, Hospitality Management and Social Sciences, alongside the medical, dental, nursing and allied health science schools that are part of the same university.
The university is NAAC accredited with an A+ grade (CGPA 3.33) and holds AICTE, UGC and relevant professional council approvals (PCI for pharmacy, BCI for law) for its individual programmes. In NIRF 2025, MSRUAS moved into the 101 to 150 band nationally in the University category, with its Faculty of Dental Sciences and Faculty of Pharmacy also ranked separately.
MSRUAS structures its programmes around an applied-research and industry-interaction model across engineering, management, pharmacy and design faculties.
The Faculty of Engineering and Technology offers focused B.Tech programmes in Aerospace Engineering and Automotive Engineering alongside mainstream branches such as Computer Science Engineering, run from a dedicated Aerospace and Automotive Engineering department.
The university holds an NAAC A+ grade with a CGPA of 3.33, as listed on its official accreditation page.
B.Tech admission accepts COMEDK, JEE Main and KCET scores in addition to the university's own RUASAT entrance test used for other programmes.
The official placement page lists a highest national package of Rs 52 lakh per annum, 11 international placements, and participation from 300 companies including 150 MNCs.
Honest caveat: MSRUAS shares its name, campus and Gokula Education Foundation parentage with sister institutions such as M.S. Ramaiah Medical College and M.S. Ramaiah Institute of Technology, which are separate entities with their own admissions and pages. As a university formed in 2013, MSRUAS is younger as a unified institution than the individual Ramaiah colleges that were merged into it, some of which date to the early 1990s. Official pages do not publish current total student or faculty headcounts, or an average and median placement package, so those figures are left blank here rather than estimated.
MSRUAS runs on campus hostel blocks for women at the Gnanagangothri Campus with several block options, plus limited on-campus hostel space for men. The hostels are operated by the Gokula Education Foundation, and the Technology Campus in Peenya offers on-campus or affiliated housing for students.
