It operates twelve schools covering law, business, international affairs, liberal arts and humanities, public policy, banking and finance, psychology, journalism, art and architecture, environment, and art and culture. NAAC accredited it Grade A (CGPA 3.14, Cycle 1, 2016), and it holds UGC Institution of Eminence status (designated 2020). JGU does not hold a standalone NIRF rank in Law 2025 and falls in the Management band 101-125.
The flagship is the Jindal Global Law School (JGLS), one of the most prominent private law schools in India, with five-year integrated programmes (BA LLB, BBA LLB, BCom LLB) admitted through LNAT-UK from 2025 (LSAT-India was discontinued). Business programmes (JGBS) and liberal arts (JSLH) form the next major schools. Postgraduate programmes include MBA, LLM, MA, MSc, and MCom across schools.
All undergraduate programmes follow NEP 2020 four-year structure. The 80-acre campus at Sonipat Narela Road has 14 hostel blocks with a combined capacity of over 10,400 students, making it one of the largest private university residential setups in North India.

JGLS runs BA LLB, BBA LLB, BCom LLB (5 years each), a 3-year LLB, and LLM across 10+ specialisations. From 2025, flagship law admissions use LNAT-UK (the same test used by Oxford, Cambridge, and University College London), replacing the discontinued LSAT-India. JGLS placed 77 students in top law firms and corporates in its 2022-23 placement drive, with Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas recruiting the highest (37 students), and the highest individual package reaching approximately Rs 40 LPA.
JGU holds Institution of Eminence status, placing it in a category of fewer than 20 universities in India designated by UGC for special academic and regulatory autonomy. The 12 schools allow students across law, business, international affairs, humanities, public policy, and journalism to interact on a single residential campus with shared infrastructure and faculty networks.
JGU's undergraduate degrees follow the NEP 2020 four-year structure with exit options and interdisciplinary major-minor combinations. A business student can minor in law or international affairs, and vice versa. The JGLS BA LLB and BBA LLB integrate law with social science or business over five years, which is one of the most established such integrations among private Indian universities.
The 14 hostel blocks (managed by Good Host Spaces) accommodate over 10,400 students with AC rooms, attached bathrooms, Wi-Fi, mess, laundry, housekeeping, and sports facilities. Annual residential cost is approximately Rs 3.56 lakh inclusive of room and all allied services, comparable with private hostels in Delhi NCR at significantly lower quality. Sonipat is approximately 40 km from Connaught Place with road and rail connectivity.
JGU claims approximately 75% of enrolled students receive some form of tuition scholarship. Awards range from 10% to 100% tuition waiver based on merit-cum-means criteria (80%+ Class XII, family income assessed). The O.P. Jindal Outstanding Merit Scholarship gives the top 5 LNAT/LSAT scorers enrolling in BA LLB, BBA LLB, or LLM a Rs 1 lakh per year fee reduction. Haryana-domicile students access additional state-level fee reductions.
Honest caveat: JGU's NAAC grade (A/3.14 from Cycle 1, 2016) is among the lower accreditation scores for a university of this fee level; a second cycle re-assessment is pending. It holds no standalone NIRF Law rank in 2025, a change from prior years. The overall placement average of Rs 7.5 LPA (university-wide) is lower than most private universities at comparable fee bands; the JGLS law placement figures are significantly higher but represent only the law school cohort, not the university's general placement. Fees are among the highest in India for a private non-IIM/IIT institution.
