The UoH campus spans 2,300 acres (930 hectares) in Gachibowli, Hyderabad -- a large, pollution-free green campus with a wildlife sanctuary-style natural environment and a small deer park. It is approximately 25 km from Hyderabad city centre (Charminar area) and 8 km from Gachibowli junction. The campus has a North campus and a South campus connected by internal roads.
Nearest transit: Mindspace/Gachibowli bus (TSRTC) to campus entrance; auto from Gachibowli junction. Metro access via Raidurg metro station (~4 km, TSMETRO Jubilee Hills-Raidurg corridor).

Students should plan for limited weekend city access unless they have transport -- autos to Gachibowli junction are available.
NIRF 2025 ranks UoH #18 among universities, #26 Overall, and #32 in Research. For a 50-year-old central university with about 5,300 students and no mass-enrolment programmes, these rankings reflect research productivity rather than scale. UoH is consistently cited alongside JNU, BHU, and Hyderabad University in the tier of top central universities for PG and research. Its schools of Physics, Chemistry, Life Sciences, Computer Science, and Humanities carry strong academic reputations. For students intending to pursue PhD, academia, or high-level research careers, UoH's research environment (access to national labs, faculty with international collaboration, and a research-funding ecosystem) is the primary draw.
UoH's flagship UG-entry pathway is the 5-year integrated M.Sc (Centre for Integrated Studies) in physics, chemistry, mathematics, life sciences, and earth sciences. Admission is via CUET UG (NTA). Total fees for 5 years at central university rates make it one of the most affordable science research pathways in India. Students who complete the integrated M.Sc can directly enter PhD programmes at CSIR/DST/DBT-funded labs, IISc, IISER, or abroad with a strong publication base. This is an academically demanding pathway: students are expected to be research-ready by the end of year 5.
The placement cell placed 550 students in 2024-25 (180+ companies). Highest package Rs 46 LPA is an all-time UoH record (prior: Rs 17.89 LPA), secured by a M.Tech CSE graduate. Average package is Rs 6-8 LPA. Top recruiters: Amazon, TCS, Infosys, IBM, Oracle, Wipro, Accenture, ICICI Bank, HSBC, Deloitte. Placement is strongest for M.Tech CSE and MBA graduates. M.Sc and MA graduates primarily pursue PhD, civil services, and research fellowships. The 550 placement count (out of ~5,300 students) reflects that UoH is not a placement-led institution -- most of its students pursue research or further study.
The UoH campus in Gachibowli spans 2,300 acres (930 ha) and is one of India's largest and greenest university campuses. All enrolled students live on campus in 23 hostels (13 men, 10 women, plus the Tagore International House for international students). Total hostel capacity is 5,000+ students. Annual hostel + mess cost is approximately Rs 30,000-40,000 (hostel room rent is heavily subsidised; mess is Rs 2,000-3,000/month). For students moving from smaller cities to Hyderabad, a fully residential campus with subsidised food and housing in a green 2,300-acre campus is a significant quality-of-life advantage over hostel hunting in Gachibowli's private housing market.
UoH students with GATE scores receive a stipend of Rs 8,000/month for M.Tech. PhD students can access CSIR JRF (Rs 37,000/month for science), DBT JRF (Rs 31,000/month for biotechnology), DST INSPIRE Fellowship, PMRF (Rs 70,000-80,000/month), and UGC Non-NET Fellowship. The university's own BBL Fellowship (Rs 1,000/month, income below Rs 60,000/yr) and Digital Access Grant (Rs 1,000/month) support incoming students before they secure national fellowships. These fellowships make UoH nearly cost-neutral or income-positive for research students who qualify.
