Overview
Ground staff handle the customer-facing and operational functions on airport ground — check-in, boarding, baggage handling, gate operations, ramp services, and customer service. India's 130+ airports operated by AAI, Adani Airports, GMR, GVK employ ~80,000 ground staff across passenger services and ramp operations. The function has grown sharply with the doubling of Indian air passengers post-2014 and the new airport developments (Navi Mumbai, Jewar, Mopa Goa). Career mobility into airline management, airport management, and DGCA / regulatory roles is significant.
