Overview
Procurement Managers (also called Sourcing Managers, Buyers, or Category Managers) source raw materials, components, and services for organisations — managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and ensuring quality, cost, and delivery (QCD). The role spans manufacturing (auto, electronics, pharma), retail (Reliance Retail, DMart), e-commerce (Amazon, Flipkart), construction (L&T, Tata Projects), and IT services. India's manufacturing PLI expansion has elevated procurement's strategic importance — particularly with China+1 sourcing strategy. Senior procurement leaders manage multi-thousand-crore spend portfolios.
