Project Manager (PMP)

Overview

Project managers plan, execute, and close projects across IT, infrastructure, manufacturing, consulting, and product development. The role is widely portable across industries. PMP (Project Management Professional from PMI) is the dominant global certification, and demand for certified PMs is steady-to-high at IT services (TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Accenture), engineering and construction (L&T, Tata Projects), and consulting (Big 4, Big 3 strategy firms). Agile / Scrum certifications are increasingly required for tech project management roles.

Day-to-day responsibilities

Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables; build work breakdown structures and project schedules (MS Project, Smartsheet, Asana, Jira); manage project budget, resource allocation, and risk register; lead daily stand-ups and weekly status reviews; coordinate across functional teams and external vendors; communicate with sponsors and steering committees; manage scope changes and issue resolution; close projects with post-mortems and lessons-learnt documentation.
