BITS Goa is the Goa campus of Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani (BITS Pilani), a Deemed University of Eminence established under Section 3 of the UGC Act. The Goa campus was established in 2004 and is one of three BITS campuses (along with Pilani and Hyderabad). BITS Pilani (the institution covering all campuses) ranked #11 in NIRF 2025 Engineering, #7 in NIRF 2025 University, and #16 in NIRF 2025 Overall. The institution holds NAAC A++ accreditation with a CGPA of 3.68 (Cycle 4, awarded November 2024), the highest NAAC grade.
BITS Goa's 180-acre campus at Zuarinagar, South Goa is fully residential: all B.E. and M.Sc. students are required to reside on campus. Admission is through BITSAT (BITS Admission Test), not JEE. BITS has no reservations for SC/ST/OBC/EWS under government norms, as it is a private Deemed University.

BITS does not follow government reservation policy (no OBC-NCL/SC/ST/EWS categories). Female students receive a fee concession at BITS Pilani Hyderabad campus but not at Goa.
B.E. tuition for 4 years is Rs 22,00,000 (Rs 5,50,000 per year, Rs 2,75,000 per semester) for 2025-26. Projected annual increases of approximately Rs 13,000/semester will raise tuition to approximately Rs 2.88L/semester in 2026-27. With hostel and mess, the total 4-year cost of attendance is approximately Rs 26-28L.
M.Sc. (Hons.) 5-year dual degree tuition total is approximately Rs 27,50,000 for 2025-26.
A one-time admission fee of Rs 60,500 is charged, along with a refundable caution deposit of Rs 3,000.
BITS does not follow government reservation or scholarship policy (private Deemed University). The following scholarships apply at BITS Goa:
Merit Scholarship: Top students in each batch (typically CGPA of 8.5 and above) are eligible for a merit scholarship covering partial fee waiver. Exact quantum and eligibility criteria are published annually by BITS.
Fee Concession for SC/ST: Despite not following reservation, BITS provides a fee concession scheme for economically weaker SC/ST students based on family income. This is not a government mandate but an institutional policy.
External scholarships: Reliance Foundation Scholarship, Foundation for Excellence (FFE), and similar private scholarships are accessible to eligible BITS students. Applications via the respective scholarship websites. Government post-matric scholarships may apply to eligible students, though students should verify applicability to private Deemed Universities.
BITS Goa's 180-acre campus at Zuarinagar, Sancoale, South Goa 403726 is fully residential. All B.E. and M.Sc. students live on campus throughout the programme.
Hostels: Separate hostel blocks for boys and girls. Two large dining halls each serving approximately 1,200 students. First-year students are typically in shared rooms; single-occupancy rooms are available after first year based on seniority and CGPA.
Other facilities: Sports complex, swimming pool, gymnasium, multiple courts (basketball, volleyball, tennis, badminton), auditorium, multiple cafeterias, 24-hour library, high-speed campus-wide Wi-Fi, and a medical centre. The campus is approximately 8 km from Vasco da Gama (the nearest city) and 25 km from Panjim (Goa state capital).
Practice School: BITS Goa students participate in the Practice School programme, a unique BITS feature where students undertake semester-long internships at companies in India and abroad, earning academic credit. This distinguishes BITS from most other engineering institutions and is a major factor in strong industry relationships.
BITS Goa awards exactly the same B.E. and integrated M.Sc. degrees as the Pilani campus and shares the same curriculum, fee structure and Practice School internships. Admission is through BITSAT, a fully online entrance test, so the seat is purely a function of BITSAT score rather than JEE Main rank or state board marks. For a strong board student outside the top 5,000 JEE Advanced ranks this is one of the few realistic routes to a top private engineering brand.
In the 2024 season the campus reported an average package of 20.75 LPA, a median of 17 LPA and 82.1% placement across 292 recruiters, with 743 offers in total. The 2023 highest offer of 60.8 LPA came from DE Shaw for a CS student, and regulars include Microsoft, Microsoft Research, Adobe, Oracle, Goldman Sachs, Amazon, Dell, Qualcomm, Deloitte and Nestle.
Every B.E. student does two Practice School internships, a two-month stint after the second year and a five-and-a-half-month industry placement in the final year, with stipend. The Goa campus has produced a thick layer of consumer-internet and SaaS founders, including Abhinav Asthana (Postman, 2010 batch), Flam App co-founders Malhar Patil, Rajat Gupta and Shourya Agarwal, and Bluelearn co-founders Harish Uthayakumar and Shreyans Sancheti.
The Goa campus sits on 180 acres along NH-17B at Zuarinagar, with separate hostel blocks for boys and girls housing every student on campus, two dining halls of about 1,200 covers each, a 37,000 sq ft Student Activity Centre with indoor and outdoor sports, a 24/7 medical centre and a 3,000-node campus LAN. Vasco da Gama and Goa airport are about 10 km and 7 km away respectively.
BITS Pilani Single Degree, Dual Degree and Transfer Mechanism lets Goa students transfer specialisations and even campuses between semesters. Students who clear the cutoff GPA can move into a more competitive branch like Computer Science, switch to a dual-degree M.Sc.-B.E. combination, or apply for a semester at the Pilani or Hyderabad campus. The Practice School scheme is another hallmark: every B.E. student completes two industry stints (PS-I after the second year and PS-II in the final semester), turning two of eight semesters into paid, evaluated work at firms like Postman, Google, ISRO and DRDO.
The Goa campus has produced a disproportionate share of India deep-tech founders, including the team behind Postman (a 2014 Goa-campus startup that crossed unicorn status in 2020) and Pixxel (a space-tech company that raised over USD 36 million from Google and others). Five BITS Goa alumni feature on the Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia list, and the campus runs an active Centre for Entrepreneurial Leadership that mentors current students through pre-incubation, pitch sessions and connections to BITSian-led venture funds.
