Central University of Kashmir is a central university in Ganderbal district, Jammu and Kashmir, established in 2009 by an Act of Parliament as part of a wider Central University of Jammu & Kashmir, later bifurcated into the separate Central University of Kashmir and Central University of Jammu. It appears as entry 24 on UGC's own list of 56 Central Universities. This is a distinct institution from the older University of Kashmir, a state university established 1948/1969 at Hazratbal, Srinagar; the two are commonly confused, but Central University of Kashmir is a central university under a 2009 Act of Parliament, while University of Kashmir is a state university with no central-university status.
The university currently operates across four campuses in Ganderbal district: the Main Campus at Tulmulla (its permanent, 503-acre site, currently under construction), the Green Campus at Duderhama, the Science Campus at Nunar, and the Arts Campus at Beehama. It relocated to Ganderbal in 2018, having previously operated from temporary premises in Srinagar since its 2009 founding.

The university does not appear in any of NIRF's 2025 ranking categories, checked directly across all 17 published category pages on nirfindia.org, including University, Overall, and every subject-specific list. Its NAAC accreditation status could not be confirmed from an official source at the time of writing; NAAC's public accreditation database was unreachable, and the university's own quality-assurance pages contain no accreditation record.
