Overview

Blockchain developers build decentralised applications, smart contracts, and on-chain protocols. India has emerged as a strong Web3 talent hub with major employers including Polygon, CoinSwitch, CoinDCX, Tata Consultancy Services blockchain practice, plus a growing crypto-native startup scene. Demand cycles with the broader crypto market but the underlying skill set (Solidity, smart contract security, distributed systems) commands premium pay even in down cycles. Indian regulatory clarity on tokenisation and CBDCs is opening new institutional opportunities.

Day-to-day responsibilities

Write and audit smart contracts in Solidity (EVM) or Rust (Solana, Polkadot); design tokenomics and on-chain protocols; build wallet integrations and dApp frontends (web3.js, ethers.js, viem); test contracts using Hardhat or Foundry; deploy and verify contracts on testnets and mainnets; participate in security reviews and bug bounties; integrate with Layer 2 solutions (Polygon, Arbitrum, Optimism); maintain RPC nodes and indexers.
