Overview
Full stack developers build entire web and mobile-web applications end-to-end: frontend UI, backend APIs, database design, deployment. They are the workhorse of Indian start-ups and mid-market product teams where small engineering teams need engineers who can ship features without handoffs. Demand is strong across the funded start-up ecosystem and SaaS companies.
Day-to-day responsibilities
Build React, Next.js, or Vue frontends with responsive design; develop REST or GraphQL APIs in Node.js, Python, or Go; design and query relational and document databases; deploy to AWS, Vercel, or GCP; integrate third-party services (payments, auth, email, analytics); write tests across the stack; participate in code reviews and product planning; ship features sprint to sprint.
Skills required
- JavaScript / TypeScript
- React or Vue or Svelte
- Node.js / Python / Go for backend
- SQL and one NoSQL (MongoDB, Redis)
- REST API design and GraphQL basics
- Git and CI/CD basics
- Cloud deployment (AWS, Vercel, Render)
- CSS and responsive design (Tailwind preferred)
Education path
B.Tech CSE / IT, BCA + MCA. Bootcamp graduates and self-taught developers from non-CS backgrounds (Mechanical, Electrical, Commerce) successfully land full-stack roles via portfolio projects. Strong GitHub portfolio matters more than degree at most start-ups.
