Overview
Industrial designers create the form, function, ergonomics, and user experience of physical products: consumer electronics, appliances, furniture, automotive, medical devices, tools. India's product-design ecosystem has grown sharply with the maturation of design-led D2C brands (boAt, Nothing, Atomberg, Wakefit), automotive R&D centres (Mercedes-Benz R&D, Mahindra Pininfarina, Tata UK Design), and design consultancies (Onio Design, Lokus Design, Studio Recall, Kyoorius). Day-to-day responsibilities
Conduct user research and ethnographic studies; sketch concepts and develop design directions; build 3D models in SolidWorks, Rhino, or Fusion 360; render presentations in KeyShot or VRED; prototype with 3D printing, CNC, and hand-fabrication; collaborate with mechanical engineers on Design for Manufacturing (DFM); user-test prototypes and iterate; coordinate with brand and marketing teams on launch communication; manage colour, material, finish (CMF) specifications.

M.Des for advanced practice and senior creative roles. Strong portfolio (case studies of products designed end-to-end) is the dominant hiring signal.
