Overview
ENT Surgeons (Otorhinolaryngologists, also called ENT specialists) diagnose and treat disorders of ear, nose, throat, head, and neck — covering hearing loss, sleep apnea, sinusitis, allergies, voice disorders, head & neck cancers, paediatric ENT (tonsillitis, adenoiditis), and otologic surgery (cochlear implants). India has a particularly high need given the burden of hearing loss (60 million+ people), allergic rhinitis (~30% of urban population), and the growing head-and-neck cancer market. Major employers: AIIMS, Apollo, Fortis, Manipal, plus specialised cochlear implant centres (Madras ENT Research Foundation, Maharashtra Institute of Speech & Hearing).
