Overview
Genetic Counsellors are healthcare professionals trained in medical genetics and counselling who help families understand and adapt to medical, psychological, and familial implications of genetic conditions. India's genetic-disease burden (thalassemia, sickle cell, Duchenne, hereditary breast/ovarian cancers — BRCA1/2) plus the growing prenatal screening market plus precision-medicine adoption have driven sharp demand. Major employers: Apollo Genetics, Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics (CDFD), Genetic Health India, MedGenome Labs, Reliance Life Sciences (genomics arm), plus large hospital chains.
