Overview
Homeopathy doctors (BHMS graduates) practise the homeopathic system of medicine alongside basic primary care. The Ministry of AYUSH regulates the qualification through the National Commission for Homoeopathy (NCH, formerly CCH). Recognised AYUSH integration in government hospitals, private homeopathy practice (across metros, tier-2 / tier-3 cities), pharmaceutical R&D at major homeopathy companies (SBL, Schwabe, Reckeweg, Bjain), and growing wellness practice combine to provide credible employment pathways. International homeopathy practice (Europe, US, Brazil) has steady demand for trained Indian practitioners.
Day-to-day responsibilities
Conduct detailed case-taking using homeopathic principles (totality of symptoms); prescribe homeopathic remedies based on individualised case analysis; counsel patients on lifestyle and dietary modifications; refer cases needing surgical or emergency intervention to allopathic specialists; maintain patient records; collaborate with other AYUSH practitioners and allopathic colleagues for integrated care; participate in homeopathy research; manage clinic operations.

Education path
BHMS (Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicine and Surgery, 5.5 years) from a National Commission for Homoeopathy (NCH) recognised college. NEET UG is the entrance pathway from 2020 onwards. MD in Homoeopathy for specialisation (Materia Medica, Repertory, Practice of Medicine, Paediatrics, Psychiatry). Registration with state AYUSH council is mandatory to practise.
