Neurologists are MD specialists who diagnose and treat disorders of the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves, and muscles — stroke, epilepsy, Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, multiple sclerosis, headache disorders, neuropathies. Distinct from neurosurgeons (who perform brain/spine surgeries), neurologists treat medically. India faces a severe shortage — only ~3,000 active neurologists for 1.4 billion population.
