Overview
Optometrists assess vision, prescribe corrective lenses, and detect ocular diseases. India's optometry market has grown rapidly with the expansion of organised eye-care chains (LensKart, Titan Eye+, Specsmakers) plus the world-class hospital networks (LV Prasad Eye Institute, Aravind Eye Hospital, Sankara Nethralaya). India's aging population, growing diabetes burden (driving diabetic retinopathy screening), and the expansion of optical retail chains have created sustained hiring demand for optometrists.
