Overview
Orthopedic Surgeons specialise in the musculoskeletal system — bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, muscles, nerves — performing surgeries for fractures, joint replacements, sports injuries, spine disorders, and arthritis. India's aging population, road-traffic accident burden (~4.5 lakh annually), sports-injury demand, and growing joint-replacement market (Apollo, Fortis, Max running dedicated orthopedic centres) drive consistent high demand. The pathway: MBBS → MS Orthopedics → optional sub-speciality fellowship (Spine, Joint Replacement, Sports Medicine, Pediatric Ortho).
