Overview
Quality Engineers ensure manufactured products and processes meet quality standards through statistical process control, Six Sigma methodologies, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement. The role spans automotive (IATF 16949 specifically), pharmaceutical (GMP), electronics (IPC), aerospace (AS9100), food (FSSC 22000), and general manufacturing (ISO 9001). India's PLI-driven manufacturing growth has driven sustained demand at Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, Mahindra, Bosch India, Foxconn India, Tata Electronics, Sun Pharma, Cipla, plus the SME export ecosystem chasing international quality certifications.
Day-to-day responsibilities
Design and implement statistical process control (SPC) systems; conduct process capability studies (Cp, Cpk, Pp, Ppk); lead Six Sigma DMAIC projects for defect reduction; perform Measurement System Analysis (MSA / Gage R&R); conduct supplier quality audits; manage customer complaints and 8D problem-solving; maintain quality management system (QMS) per ISO 9001, IATF 16949, AS9100; conduct internal audits; lead Kaizen and 5S programmes; train production staff on quality fundamentals; manage CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Action).
