Overview
Speech-language pathologists (SLPs, also called speech therapists) assess and treat communication, voice, and swallowing disorders. India's growing awareness of paediatric developmental disorders (autism, learning disabilities), the aging population's post-stroke rehabilitation needs, and the expansion of corporate hospital chains have driven steady SLP demand. Major employers include AIIMS speech pathology departments, NIMHANS, AYJNIHH (RCI-recognised institute), LV Prasad Eye Institute (the Bhubaneswar campus has audiology), and private rehab chains (Sankalp Rehab, NurtureCare).
