All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Deoghar is an Institute of National Importance under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana, approved by the Union Cabinet on 16 May 2018 at a provisioned cost of ₹1,103 crore. Its permanent campus sits on 236.92 acres at Devipur, Deoghar, Jharkhand, and its first MBBS batch was admitted in September 2019.
AIIMS Deoghar offers MBBS, B.Sc (Hons.) Nursing, B.Sc Anaesthesia Technology and other allied-health B.Sc programmes, MD across 17 specialties and MS across 5 surgical disciplines, M.Sc Nursing, and select DM and MCh super-specialty courses, several of which remain upcoming rather than currently running. PhD programmes have been offered since January 2018.
Entry to the MBBS programme runs through NEET-UG scores, allocated via MCC's centralised counselling process under the All India Quota, the standard AIIMS admission route.
AIIMS Deoghar does not currently hold a NAAC grade, consistent with its status as an Institute of National Importance outside NAAC's scope. It does not appear in the official NIRF Medical 2025 ranked list.
Programs at AIIMS Deoghar are approved by UGC — so your degree is recognised by employers, PSUs, and higher-education institutions across India and abroad.
With 200 students and 50 faculty members (~4:1 ratio), the campus offers close mentorship alongside broad peer-learning and student-activity opportunities.
Being located in Deoghar, Jharkhand gives students access to internships, industry guest lectures, and a well-connected transport network — an advantage for placements and exposure.
The institute held its first convocation only in July 2025, so it does not yet have a documented notable-alumni cohort.
